Simple, Basic
by Anthony
Tired of multi shopping to find the best products at the best price ? Meet Ziscuit !
Living in a sustainable world also means living in a world where people are able to buy good food at the best price. That’s the idea of Mark Peterson who grew up in Selma, Alabama. In his childhood, he experienced deeply the fact that with low income, his mother had togo and get products from multiple places to get the most affordable ones.
He decided to create a platform to help people do the same, the hassle less. The principle is pretty simple and the platform is basic but it does the job. Peterson sums it up as the “Kayak of groceries” : Ziscuit users can upload their grocery lists and instantly find the cheapest total bills based on their inputs. Setting various parameters, they could increase savings by widening the radius of travel from home and the number of stores they’re willing to visit. Just as Kayak did for flights and hotels when it first began, Ziscuit uses web crawlers to pull price data from supermarket websites, ranging from Publix to Walmart to Dollar General, depending on the area. The information refreshes frequently to ensure it’s up to date, and users can access it for free. (Ziscuit currently earns revenue through advertising and survey products.)
Given that a lot of products have seen their prices rise, sometimes by 40 percent recently, it’s pretty clever to build a tool that can help people save time and money. Ziscuit is very recent (only started in 4 zip code in Atlanta (USA) but very promising as it claims that it could help people save up to $520 a year.
And, as it crawls all possible stores, it also make people realize that sometimes mom and pop stores have a good price ranged products and enables them to discover stores that might be at a walkable distance from their house.
Simple, basic, efficient. And sustainable.
Do you like green peas?
by Phil
I do. But' I’d like to speak about another sort of thing. The GreenPea, from Torino, Italia!
“Green Pea is the first Green Retail Park in the world dedicated to the theme of Respect. A great place where products, created in harmony with the earth, air, water and people, are not a duty, but become a pleasure.”. If you speak Italian, that what you’d understand from the pitch. For some reason I ignored so far, green peas are symbol for respect. That bring us to sustainability, the main motive for this new generation of mall.
Next to Italy's very first Eataly, at Lingotto in Turin, Italy, Green Pea, was introduced as the world's first retail park with an all-Green vocation, when it opened on 9 December 2020. It started with five floors, 66 shops, a museum, three restaurants, a swimming pool, a spa… There is also a club dedicated to “creative laziness”, probably something to go with the slow food, which comes from Italy as well, you know, . A total of 72 commercial activities and a hundred partners, all committed to the cause of sustainability.
Just recently, nature entered the Italian Constitution last month: with decades of delay, the fundamental Charter of the Republic incorporates a sensitivity for the environment that is now widespread among citizens and in jurisprudence. Climate was not an issue back in 1948, now more than ever. The provision modifies the article 9 of the Charter, adding that the Republic protects "the environment, biodiversity and ecosystems, also in the interest of future generations. The law of the State regulates the ways and forms of animal protection ". The reference to future generations represents the implementation in the Constitution of the concept of sustainable development, according to which natural resources cannot be exploited in an unlimited way without taking into account who will come after us.
From duty to beauty. Even written into the constitution. Forza sostenibile Italia!
